Opposites Attract...

So this week here's what's been on my mind. I am the luckiest girl in the world. In my opinion anyway. I know that I often talk about how my TV is going to be taken over by my husband because of basketball season and that he sometimes makes me crazy. But this week I was informed that two of my friends are getting divorces. One of those friends I never in a million years would have dreamed would go through something like this. From what I could see, they were made for eachother. Anyway, it made me take a long hard look at my relationship. I am so thankful for the man that I'm married to. He is the strength when I am weak. He's the one person in this world that I trust more than anything. I love him more than I could ever describe in words. I have thought alot about our relationship, how it started, how it has progressed over these last 7 years, all week. There's alot of things I haven't thought about in a very long time. I actually got out my wedding album this week and looked at it. I can remember how I felt that day. My heart has never been so full. I feel like I have been blessed beyond what I deserve sometimes. He & I are complete opposites. He likes the great outdoors and I like to be inside doing creative things or cooking. He likes to be very neat and orderly while I'm a little untidy at times. He thinks that mair and makeup are stupid and I think it's outrageous for me to go anywhere without it. We have so many different things that we don't always see eye to eye on. But the one thing that is always constant is how much we love eachother. He's the most amazing person I think I've ever been blessed to know. I'm glad that I can call him my husband.

A Little Dirt Never Hurt

So this week I decided to get my hands dirty and do some "spring cleaning" around this house. I convinced my husband to help me rearrange my living room. For those of you that don't know my husband, this was no easy task. I finally got him to help me on Friday. This was after I had attempted it on my own on Tuesday and he has no idea that ever happened.....let's keep it that way! Anyway I cleaned the floors, mopped, dusted, vacuumed, windexed....pretty much any kind of cleaning product that could be used got used. It looks alot better and I really like it. I can't wait to show it off.

Nothing else has really been going on this week. I have successfully cut myself down to one 12 oz can of soda a day. Next week I start my diet......I am hoping I don't starve to death....right now that is looking like a possibility. But this week I did lose 7 pounds just by cutting back on all my coke drinking. I was kinda excited about that! Anyway, I don't have anything else really exciting to share. I just thought I'd share all of this. It's been a little while since I last blogged. Oh and the picture above is from a photoshoot I did with my friend Ashley. That's her wedding dress....we did some pretty pictures in it and then we trashed it. It was a blast! I'll add a pretty picture or two at the bottom for your viewing pleasure!

Diet & exercise....

First of all let me just say that I am not a big fan of exercise. I will be honest and say that fat girls don't like to sweat....at least this one doesn't. Well, I have decided that I want to start getting myself into some kind of shape. I don't know what has taken over my body and made me decide to get into shape but I have been going to the gym and walking and lifting for about 6 months. At first I lost weight.....now not so much. So I have decided to start taking a yoga class from a friend of mine. That coupled with my current gym workout and a new diet....surely something will kick things up, right?? So hopefully by the time summer comes around I'll be working my way thin....maybe. The diet I'm going to try is called "The Smash Fat Diet" by Dr. Ian K. Smith from Celebrity Fit Club. It's actually a pretty healthy diet. I've done some research on alot of different diets and this one stuck out to me. I've watched Celebrity Fit Club and they always lose alot of weight. So that's what I think I'm going to try. I am going to start it in a week. I have to give myself a week to quit drinking cokes. We shall see how this goes. Quitting cokes isn't going to be easy for me. I drink one everyday before work. Hopefully this won't make me crazy. So everybody say prayers for me. I really want to do this. I usually get what I want when I'm determined.

Vampires....

So last week we were watching Saturday Night Live. I discovered this band that I have become obsessed with. Problem is I can't find thier CD anywhere locally. I'm very upset by this. The band is called Vampire Weekend. They are very upbeat and SO cool. Very tribal and just interesting. I'm telling you, they make my heart happy to listen to them. I just adore them. So if anyone out there can tell me where I can buy the actual CD please send me a link....something. I have found it on iTunes but I'd prefer to have the actual CD for this band. I have a feeling that the CD jacket has some cool stuff inside and I'm very interested to see it! Here's the link to the video for Giving Up The Gun . I hope you like it!

Why I watch...

The Gilmore Girls

I am a big Gilmore Girls fan. I DVR this show every single day. It has become like one of my "stories". The last new episode aired in 2006, but, I have kept taping it and watching it everyday. This show is about a Mom and daughter who have a freakishly close knit relationship. They are best friends. I love this show. I have been watching it for a long time. Lorelai & Rory have this open and honest relationship that reminds me alot of my relationship with my own Mom. I think maybe that is why I love this show so much.

My Mom is my best friend. She's been such an amazing presence in my life. I don't know what I would do without her. She's always there when I need her. I just love her. I just want to take a minute to show a little appreciation for her today. She's just such an amazing person. I love her more than words could ever express. She's a very wonderful lady and if someday I am half the Mom she is....I will have truly accomplished something awesome.

Chase me....

So I'm longing for the weather to change and be warm. I've been wanting it to change and be warm for a while. I mean, come on, winter is fine for a little while but I'm getting sick of it. Spring is playing with my emotions and teasing me by being warm for 2 days and then returning to these frigid temperatures. I'm not a fan at all. Plus warm weather means I finally get to go to the park with my best friend and her two little boys! I've been talking to her 3 year old, Logan, on the phone and he keeps asking me, "Nisa can we go to the park?" of course I tell him yes....then he says, "Will you chase me all day?" ..... I also reply yes.....he's too adorable! I love going to the park and chasing them around. I always look like a mental case playing hide & seek with them or just going down the slides, that I'm WAY too big for, just to get a laugh out of them.  I'm just ready to go to the park. Be able to see thier sweet little faces. Hug them....love on them for a little bit. They live at least an hour away from me so I don't get to see them that often. I talk to them all the time but these park dates are kinda our thing. It's the only time I get to spend with them and it's special. I make sure to take them M&M's and we play until we are all so tired that we know we aren't going to have trouble sleeping. I'm excited for spring.....I'm excited to hear those little voices yelling "Chase me Nisa!" and while my fat butt will be tired from it later....I will enjoy every single minute of it!

Impulse....

So this week I decided to cut my hair all off. I've been trying to learn to love my latest cut and well, it just wasn't working. I absolutely hated it. So I decided Thursday that I'd had enough. I texted my friend Brittany and went in to her shop to let her work her magic. So I thought I'd give you a preview of my new hairdo....let me know what you think!

The coolest Mammaw a girl could have!

So, today I went to my Mammaw's house to bake a chocolate pie for my in-laws for their birthdays. This is something that no other grandchild has made time to do. As far as I know, no one has taken the time to learn how to make these pies. Mammaw has made these pies for as long as I can remember and they are a favorite by people near and far. There's a man that used to work at my Mom's law firm that now is working at the capital building in OKC that would kill to have them around holiday time! I'm telling you they are a magical experience. You know, at Thanksgiving, I learned how to make her dressing. She started teaching me the pies then. It's something that you gotta do repeatedly because she measures NOTHING! I love that kind of cooking....it's how I cook at home. I love getting to spend the time with her. As you can see this ended up in a meringue fight! We had meringue from ear to ear! Pawpaw even got some on him for coming in the kitchen to "supervise".....

Days like today are special to me. I know that I'm spoiled because I have her in my life. I know that I'm rotten. I know that most people don't have the fun relationship that we have. She knows me inside and out. She made me hot tea while I was there because she knows that it's my favorite thing in the world. She used to always have hot tea for me when I stayed there as a kid. She's just the greatest thing. Days like today are really pretty amazing. I left there after baking the pie and sitting there with her watching her "stories" and my heart was happy. I love that lady. She's crazy and fun and well, she's mine. My Mammaw.....the coolest Mammaw a girl could have. I don't think I could have asked God to make me a better one. She's pretty amazing. And I love her.

TGIF!!!

This week has been a long one. I didn't think Friday was ever going to get here. Have you ever had one of those weeks where you'd just like to punch a certain person in the face? Just once, just to make them shut up? Yeah I have this week. Only thing is, if I had, they would have just talked over the pain I'm sure.....or even worse, whistled through it. I hate whistling for those of you that don't know that about me. It's one of the world's most annoying sounds. I'd seriously rather hear that noise that Jim Carey makes on Dumb & Dumber than whisling.

I'm just glad that Friday is here and that I'm off for 3 days. I took Monday off. I decided since they wouldn't let me have today off that I would get paid  to skip Monday. So I am. I don't have anything special planned. I am just going to spend some time with my husband who is also off work. I'm looking forward to the weekend. I may actually do some baking and might try and get back on track with my cheesecake making. We'll see. Anyway, I have dinner plans for tonight so I better stop typing and go start trying to make myself pretty. Lord knows that could take hours!!

March Madness...sorta....

So this month there will be a LOT going on. It kicks off March Madness, for those of you sports fans, you understand that my life will revolve around sporting events that happen this month. Basketball and Football drafts that will dominate my TV. It's fine, I have learned in the past 7 years that I can just make it through March and everything goes back to normal in April. Also this month there are some birthdays that I'd like to mention.

On March 1st was my Father-in-Law, Mike's, birthday....we went to eat dinner for his birthday. He's an amazing man and he brings alot of wonderful things into my life. He's a great Christian man and he lives in a manner that makes you just want to be a good person. He is a sweet person and I love him dearly.

My Mother-in-Law also has a birthday this month. Her birthday is on the 14th. Veldean is a very special lady. She and I have grown very close over the last 7 years. I married her baby boy 5 years ago in May. She and I have worked very hard to make a good relationship with eachother and I cherish what we have.

My Brother-in-Law, Chase, aslo has a birthday this month on the 22nd. He's always around to make me laugh. He thinks that bathroom humor is of the best kind and so he's easily amused. It's like having a 14 year old around sometimes but he keeps things interesting. He has a love of music & cooking and so we often share cd's & recipes. He is a great cook.

My Uncle Joe has a birthday on the 26th. He's always been very special to me. He taught me how to color. I can remember that when I was little he would put me in his lap with a coloring book and crayons and hold my little hand in his gigantic one and show me to make tiny circles to make the perfect colored page. I am very close to him. He comes across very gruff sometimes but I love him. He always tormented my brother and aggravated every single boy I have ever brought home. That's how I knew if they were worth keeping around. If they could make it past my Uncle Joe, they couldn't be half bad. He's always been a constant in my life. Someone I've always looked up to and loved with my entire heart. He's one person that no matter how much he pushed other people buttons, he always could do no wrong in my eyes.

My former boss, Gina Sue, also has a birthday on the 26th. She's a great lady. I started working for her when I was just 15. I worked for her until she sold her store. She has always been there for me when I needed a place to go to collect myself. She's one of the most fun, crazy, awesome people I know. I'm blessed to have had her in my life.

March is a busy time in my life. Lots of sports, Lots of birthdays. And for those of you that know me, the twins will be 8 this year. I know.....seems like just yesterday. HAHA!! I celebrate thier birthday every single year. This year will be a little bittersweet. I used to get a happy birthday text from a friend that knew about them. He'd say "Happy Birthday to the twins" because not very many people know what the heck I'm talking about. Well, he's not here this year. He doesn't have any way to tell "them" happy birthday. And while I'm okay with it, it's just going to be a little weird being out of that routine this year. Makes that situation a little more real. A little harder. I've dealt with it the best that I know how. I've moved on from it the best that I know how. But this was something  that only he got. Only he saw the humor in. So here's to all the birthdays in March.....even to the twins.
