I'm my own boss!

So in 1995 a product came out that truly changed my world. ProActiv. I have used this stuff for the last 18 years and had great success with it. Now that I've left my teens and 20's it's time for me to start focussing  on anti-aging products. I mean, let's face it, I will be 32 tomorrow and while I'm not at all ashamed of my age, I want to take care of the skin I have because I'm definitely not getting any younger and neither is my skin.

I have been searching for the most affordable skincare with the best results. I started small...using BB cream. I added in an under eye cream. Then a face serum or night cream. Nothing seemed to be doing anything noticeable. Then, my friend Kelly started posting about the very doctors that had made my most trusted skincare line, Rodan and Fields.

I kept watching Kelly's posts come around on my Facebook feed and I even went to the site and looked around. Then I realized it wasn't marketed exactly the same. This was actually something I could purchase AND sell. I was interested already.

After sending messages back and forth with Kelly I went to see her. She gave me a facial kit and also used this really cool tool called, the Macro E, on my face. I was hooked. I just needed to find a way to join this fast growing business.

I prayed about it. I talked to my husband about it. I talked to my parents and best friends about it. Then I prayed some more. A month went by and my Mom finally said she wanted me to take this opportunity and she offered to pay. Me being hard headed, I said no. But then I talked to Seth some more and decided maybe this was my prayer being answered. So I enrolled in a new business on Saturday.

I am a consultant for Rodan + Fields. I sell a line of anti-aging skincare that will seriously blow your mind. The facial I received to take home and try was one of the most amazing things I've ever put on my face. I don't know why I was surprised. I've always loved anything Rodan & Fields have made.

Being part of this company is already the most amazing feeling. I can do this on MY time. It allows me to stay home and be the Mommy and Wife I have wanted to be. And I get to make my own schedule. Plus, I'm meeting other strong and encouraging women along the way who are also selling and networking right alongside me. It's amazing. I can't wait to see where this takes me.

I'd love to show you the products or talk to you about the business if you are ever interested or even if you know someone else that might be! It is already changing my whole world. It could do the same for you.

Time Travel

A few Christmases ago my husband bought me an iPod radio dock thingy for my kitchen. That's exactly what I call it too. Anyway. The last week I have been bringing in my iPod when I get out of the car. I've put it on random and let it shuffle through various genres of music. When I came across the country genre it was like traveling back in time. You know people always say a song can take you back. I truly believe that. This week I've traveled back to high school, graduation, several different breakups and relationships, several friendships, and the beginning of my relationship with Seth. Occasionally a song from our wedding cd comes on and transports me to a place that my heart still feels all fluttery about.

Music is one of those things for me that is right up there with breathing. My best friend is a writer. She's amazing when it comes to words. I'm not. So I depend on music to make my heart heard. I have my happy music, sad music, healing music, and mad music. What's funny is that Seth can usually tell my mood by what I'm listening too. If I'm listening to Lifehouse, he knows someone has hurt me. If I'm listening to Daughtry, I've most likely got a lot in my mind. If I'm listening to rap music, I'm mad and he probably shouldn't talk to me. If I'm listening to country, pop, or Christian music, then I'm most likely happy and just fine. Music is a big part of me. It really makes all the difference in my world. Take music away and I'm lost. I can't function without it.

This week it has been nice to just have the music going an the tv turned off. I've enjoyed my time travels. Not all the memories have been happy ones, but, I'm a better person and a stronger one for having gone through those moments.

You did good....

I write about my husband a lot. This post won't be much different. I am up tonight making muffins and breakfast cookies for Talent. While making them I have the radio on. There is a song that came on the radio by Kip Moore. It's called Pretty Girl. I have heard it several times. Tonight it really hit me pretty hard. You see, I married a man that has a very different "love language" than I do. I need words of affirmation. I need to be told I am loved, that I'm doing a good job, and that I'm just all around what he wants. He just needs to be shown love in a much different way. For instance, I make the bed every single day because to him, that shows I love him. I can clean the kitchen, his bathroom, or vaccum, and he will think I hung the moon. Doing things like that for him mean more to him than anything I could ever say. He needs actions. So we are very different in the love languages we speak. But, every now and then we are actually able to get on the same page.

The Kip Moore song hits me so hard because at the end of it, it talks about his wife having a baby. He tells her, "Hey pretty girl, you did so good Our baby's got your eyes And a fighters heart like I knew she would Hey pretty girl, you did so good"  I remember after Talent was born and everyone else had left. We were finally all alone after 22 hours of having doctors, nurses, and family everywhere.....Seth kissed me on the forehead, squeezed my hand and said, "You did good, babe. I'm proud of you." That song takes me back to that moment every single time. It's a day I will never forget. Not just because it's the day we had our sweet baby boy. But, because something happened in our relationship that day. Something I never thought possible. We became even closer. Our relationship grew and became even stronger. That day was a beautiful day for both of us for so many reasons.

I love that music can take me to a place like that. I love that it can take me back to a memory and bring it so "front and center".....it's my most favorite thing about music. You may not be able to live in that moment forever but a song can take you back like nothing else. I'm so thankful for that. And I'm so thankful to have such wonderful memories with this man. I truly have an amazing husband. I think God did an amazing job picking out my husband. He's the most amazing man I could have. I love him so much.
