Shooter Jennings. Well I'm not even sure what his music is really. On his website it says "Black Country Rock" and I'm not entirely sure what that means. But I do know that I like most of the stuff of his I have heard. The song "4th of July" is the first song of his I ever heard. I loved it. I knew he was the son of Waylon Jennings so when I bought his cd I kinda expected music close to what his dad made. It wasn't. It was different and fun. I love his sound.
This song is one that always reminds me of summer. This song came out the summer after Seth & I got married. I loved how upbeat and fun it was. And it's about my favorite time of year & holiday. It always takes me to this place that is happy and fun. It can bring me back to that summer feeling in the dead of winter. I hope you enjoy it.

Streetcorner Symphony
So for those of you that don't know, I have a slight obsession with Rob Thomas. I have loved him since I first heard him in Matchbox 20 the summer after my Freshman year of High School. I remember the first time I heard that voice....it just has this unusual sound. I love it! I have not ever heard a song of his that I didn't like. Even in his Matchbox 20 days, I just couldn't get enough. This song I'm posting today is called Streetcorner Symphony. It was on a cd that my brother in law bought me for Christmas a few years ago. I listened to that cd so much that I finally wore it out. I didn't know that was even possible. This song is fun and up beat and I hope you really enjoy it.

The closest thing to Heaven
So today I decided to bake a chocolate pie for Seth's best friends' parents. They have been so generous to us and have given us their basketball tickets to the OU basketball games. The seats are very close to the floor. Maybe 6 rows up from the benches at center court. We've gotten to go to all the games that we wanted and it has been a blast for us! So to show our appreciation, I have baked Mammaw's Famous Chocolate Pie. That's the name I've given this pie because people from all over the country will travel to Mammaw's to "visit". Truth is, they all know that she will make a chocolate pie & a coconut pie to welcome them with. I'm not saying that people don't come to visit Mammaw & Pawpaw because they like them, but seriously, this pie is amazing. She started teaching me how to make them 2 years ago. I made my first one for my in-laws for Thanksgiving. I'm getting better at this. I tasted the filling that didn't go into the pie crust and it tastes pretty dang close to my Mammaw's. We have decided that for Thanksgiving or Christmas we are both going to make one and see if anyone can tell the difference. I'm confident that if they can tell the difference it will only be because I don't have the proper technique down quite yet for putting on the merenge. I'll get there. So I thought I'd share pics of the pie. In my opinion, this is as close to Heaven as you can get while you are here on earth.
Then They Do
Well, it's hard to believe it's day 24 of the music challenge. Not too much longer and we'll be starting a new challenge!
Today I'm posting a song from one of my very favorite artists. Trace Adkins is one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen in my life. I've always loved his music. I kinda have a thing for country guys. Trace is this extremely tall, rugged, rough and tumble, country man. He always has the greatest music. Some of it is silly and some of it is beautiful. The song I'm posting today is about your children growing up and the changes that take place in a parents life. I can remember when this song first came out. My mother would cry every single time she heard it. I understand now why this song got to her. You know, I realize now why my Mom always tries to "mother" me even though I'm almost 30 years old. It's not because she thinks I'm an idiot and don't know what I'm doing. It's because to her, I'm still that little baby that she brought home from the hospital. I'm still that little girl that would carry around Favorite Baby and suck my thumb. I am posting this today because it made me think of her. Before long, I will have my own baby to take care of. I will understand even more why my parents are the way they are with me. It's a love thing.

Bring It On Home
So lately I've been posting songs that remind me of my husband. Today is no different. I guess maybe the closer I get to having this baby, the more I realize how much our lives are about to change. This song is one that always makes me think of Seth. He's someone that I can always talk to about things. When I was working this is how it felt coming home to him. No matter what happened at work, no matter how crappy of a day it was, I could come home and he was here. He always made me laugh and on days that I just needed to sit and be held, he was there. I think he's pretty amazing and this song makes me think of him. When I have a bad day, I can listen to this and feel like nothing is as bad as it seems. So I hope you enjoy the song.
